Flag Fen

On Thursday 18th July 2019,  8 members of the History Group visited Flag Fen Archaeology Park.

We started off with lunch at Van Hage Garden Centre and proceeded to Flag Fen for 2pm where we met Steve, a volunteer guide who gave us a very informative tour of the 10 acre site.

The tour started from the Visitor Centre and we followed the Trail to the Preservation Hall where the remains of the only prehistoric wooden structure in Britain (3,300 yrs old) is being preserved by continuously spraying water.

On our tour we sat inside a Bronze Age round house, walked on a Roman road, viewed the oldest wheel in England and Bronze Age Log Boats.

A perfect day had by all.
